In a major step to give global recognition to ODOP products of Uttar Pradesh and also, better management of cleanliness of the state capital, the Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has signed two MoUs.
The first MoU was signed between the Lucknow district administration and IIM Indore, while the second MoU was signed between the Lucknow Municipal Corporation and IIM Indore. Through these MoUs, not only marketing and branding of ODOP will be done for sale in the country and abroad, but training will also be given to artisans.
Under the MoU signed between the district administration and IIM Indore, artisans associated with ODOP will be trained, and branding of manufactured goods and marketing will be done in India and abroad. On the other hand, the MoU signed between the Municipal Corporation and IIM includes work on cleanliness, beautification, and environmental aspects of the city. During this, Lucknow District Magistrate Surya Pal Gangwar and professors of IIM Indore were present.
Under the MoU, people will be linked to the cleanliness campaign. Additionally, to motivate people for self-employment, loan facilities will be made available under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Program, Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana, and One District One Product Financing Assistance Scheme, among others.
Through government initiatives, people will be encouraged to set up industries with the aim of creating maximum self-employment and employment opportunities. Professor Himanshu Rai of IIM Indore said, “Similar to the campaign launched in Ayodhya and Kanpur, efforts will be made in Lucknow for cleanliness.”
