Sustainability is an important aspect of our Government’s Smart Cities Mission along with the holistic aspect of the cities of future with disruptive technologies at the heart of it.

Speaking on the sidelines of BW Businessworld Smart Cities Conclave in Ahmedabad today, Ajay Girotra, MD, AG Dauters Waste Processing Pvt Ltd. emphasized on this aspect, “Every city can become smart if it becomes self- sustainable which means taking care of your basics. By sustainable I mean providing quality of life to people without destroying the environment. People should be made aware about taking care of their surroundings by saving on energy consumption, water, not littering around and sanitation etc.”

Waste management is also a quintessential part of the Government’s Smart Cities Mission which is a pressing need and issue for India to address as the country is amongst top 10 countries in the world generating the highest amount of solid waste. It is estimated that the rate at which India is generating waste currently, by 2030 the country will need a landfill as big as Bengaluru to dump its garbage.

Talking about the same, Girotra also said that India is the first country after the USA where his company has launched its exclusive waste to energy technology. Talking about the importance of launching it in India, Girotra said, “AG Dauters has created the most and vast waste to energy technology in the world for India. Outside the USA, India is the first country where the company has launched this technology. This is the most advanced energy technology which can convert any kind of waste into power, drinking water and fuel.”

He also stated that the technology his company has introduced integrates the practical applications of quantum physics, chemistry, engineering with its proprietary processes and uses plasma gasification as a platform where any kind of solid and liquid waste can be converted into power, drinking water and fuel with zero emissions and zero residues.

If the Government wants to achieve its goal of ‘Clean India’ by 2019 then it needs to deal with the waste management issue at the earliest.
