INDORE, January 28: Buoyed by inclusion of Indore in the first batch of Smart City project announced by the Centre, the district administration today said it had charted out a Rs 4,500 crore plan.
"Under the project, modern infrastructure and amenities will be developed in Rajwada locality, which have the historical palace and is known as the heart of the city, spread over an area of 550 acres and MOG lines area in 68 acres," Indore collector P Narhari said.
The project envisions smooth traffic and waste managements in other areas as well, he said.
Rs 4,500 crore are proposed to be spent in five years for turning the urban area of the district into Smart City in a phased manner, he said. Of this, the Centre will contribute Rs 500 crore and the rest will come from the state government and other avenues.
Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today announced the first list of 20 cities under the Smart City project.
