NDMC to digitise all property tax records

NEW DELHI, Aug 4: In good news for property tax payers in North Delhi, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has decided to digitise all tax-related records that would bring in greater transparency and help the municipal body in identifying defaulters. "North Delhi Municipal Corporation will digitise all records of properties for property tax records and maintain it in an electronic form," North Delhi Mayor Ravinder Gupta today said. Through this process property tax department will be able to "synchronise old and new data" and it will help maintain the record of property tax-payers, he said. A senior NDMC official when contacted said the "tender would soon be floated" to begin the process. "Once the tender is floated, the hiring of an agency takes about two months or so after which we expect to officially begin the digitisation process," he said. The Mayor further said that a "unique identification code" process has already been launched and digitisation of data would help in identifying the defaulters. Gupta said the digitised data will be uploaded as a hyperlink for review of digital records against each corresponding entry in the database. The data will be maintained at the zonal levels as well as at the headquarter level. The senior official said that NDMC has already undertaken the task of digitising its old records. "We have been doing digitisation of our old municipal records. We have already made the birth and death certificates available online. And we will continue to improve services through IT," he said.
