NDMC To Construct Decentralised Sewage Treatment Plants

NEW DELHI, March 2: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) today decided to construct decentralised sewage treatment plants on Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model at 10 locations in their areas. The decision was taken at NDMC's council meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. "The NDMC has decided to construct decentralised sewage treatment plants in NDMC area at 10 locations with the different capacity of treating sewerage water. "NDMC is going to invite reputed firms for selection as concessioner developers to develop 100 to 500 KLD capacity sewage treatment plants including operation and maintenance of 12 years," NDMC said in a statement. Apart from this, it was decided to set up water ATMs for providing safe drinking water at public places and slum Clusters on PPP project basis. "Under the proposal, 73 Water ATMs in NDMC area under Public Private Partnership Mode for a period of 7 years would be installed. The ATMs would provide safe drinking water to the public at nominal charges and are likely to start within a period of 3 months," it further stated. NDMC has already signed a MoU with Solar Energy Corporation of India for generation of solar energy in NDMC area. Twenty three locations of electric sub-stations and 13 locations of municipal buildings were found suitable with a total Solar Panel Install Capacity of 1495 KWp. -PTI
