Nagaland CM Takes Up Urban Development Projects With Naidu

NEW DELHI, April 12: Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang today met Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and stressed on the need for infrastructure development in the state given its potential as the Gateway to East Asian countries. Zeliang informed Naidu that Nagaland government would soon submit the Smart City Plan for Kohima to the Ministry of Urban Development for evaluation in the Fast Track Competition in which 23 cities from as many States and Union Territories are participating. The Chief Minister said that best possible efforts have been made to improve the Kohima proposal to address the deficiencies pointed out in the first round of competition in which 20 cities have been selected. Zeliang also sought continued funding for the multi-layer parking slot taken up under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and also for completion of a cultural complex started under '10 per cent Lumpsum Scheme for North-Eastern Region'. Naidu asked the officials to examine the status of various projects in progress in Nagaland for doing the needful as per guidelines, an official statement said. -PTI
