RANCHI, May 18: Jharkhand government today said it is keen
to work with China's Shanxi Province in the fields of water resources, energy
and mining.
These issues were discussed during Chief Minister Raghubar Das's meeting Vice
Governor of Shanxi Province Guo Yingguang during the latter's one-day visit to
Jharkhand today, an official release said.
Yingguang has said the Chinese Province of Shanxi receives half the amount of
Jharkhand's annual average rainfall, but the entire province gets water from
750 reservoirs, it said.
Informing about the water supply system in Shanxi, Yingguang expressed interest
in working with Jharkhand while calling on the Chief Minister, the release said
here.
Das, in his response, said his government was also keen to work with Shanxi
Province in the field of energy and mining besides water resources, it added.
The Vice Governor said modern technology was being used in coal mining, which
minimised the rate of mishap, the release said.
Like Jharkhand, Shanxi province has abundance of coal deposit.
Das said the state has simplified laws to attract investment in the sectors
like tourism, food processing, automobile, cement, besides mining, which has
enough potential for growth, the release said.
The government's focus, he added, was to promote solar energy while seeking
cooperation from the visiting team in developing smart cities in the state.
Das further invited them to participate in the 'Global Meet of Investors' to be
held in the state in November, it said adding the Governor has also invited the
CM to 'Energy Expo' to be held in Province in September, it added.
