GURGAON, June 11: The district administration here has ideated preparing disaster management plans at micro levels and will form teams of 'first responders' in various government institutions to help tackle any natural calamity.
After chairing a meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner V P Singh said in the first phase buildings' surveys and fire fighting arrangements will be carried out at 100 government schools, five government colleges, 50 villages and Gurgaon main bus stand.
Two research officers, Lakshita Boora and Robin Aggarwal, appointed with the Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA) would assist in preparing the Disaster Management Plans of these institutes and villages, Singh said.
Initially 25 government schools from each Block will be identified which are more vulnerable to disasters. A nodal officer and school head will be imparted training at the Block level in which they will be told how to prepare a 'School Safety Plan' for their school. At the same time, they will be imparted training in first aid, search and rescue and civil defence.
A team of first responders will also be prepared in every school, who would be skilled to work in the event any disaster occurs, he said.
Similarly a Disaster Management Plan would be prepared for the local bus stand and a team of engineers of Public Works Department (PWD) and Fire Officers would conduct a survey and make analysis of condition of buildings, fire fighting equipments among others.
The official further said an evacuation map would also be prepared and asked the Roadways authorities to chalk out an inventory of heavy machinery and other helping equipments available with them which can be used for providing relief to victims at the time of any calamity.
The youth to be included into the 'First Responders Team' would be imparted training in disaster management.
The district administration has also asked the Assistant Director of Industrial Safety & Health department to get prepared a disaster management plan for each industrial unit.
