Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Allocates Rs 2084 Cr For Developmental Projects By Municipal Corporations
In a bid to propel systematic development initiatives across towns and cities in the state, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presented cheques worth Rs. 2084 crore to eight municipal corporations and several municipalities.
Speaking at the cheque distribution programme organised by the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department in Gandhinagar, the Chief Minister urged active participation from all quarters in the developmental endeavours.
Underlining the effective financial management led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Patel emphasised the commitment to strong financial resources, ensuring a steady allocation for ongoing and upcoming state government development projects. He made it clear that quality standards in development projects must not be compromised or deviated from, aligning with the state's dedication to delivering excellence.
A substantial sum of Rs. 1882 crore was allocated to eight metropolises for diverse development projects during the event. Ahmedabad received Rs. 735 crore, Surat Rs. 569 crore, Vadodara Rs. 172 crore, Rajkot Rs. 135 crore, Jamnagar Rs. 109 crore, Gandhinagar Rs. 37 crore, Bhavnagar Rs. 94 crore, and Junagadh Municipal Corporation Rs. 31 crore. Additionally, Rs. 44 crore was allocated to 'A' category municipalities, Rs. 36 crore to 'B' category municipalities, Rs. 36 crore to 'C' category municipalities, and Rs. 17 crore to 'D' category municipalities.
During his address, Chief Minister Patel credited the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the distinctive vision for planned development across cities, rural areas, and small towns.
He emphasised that India, under the successful presidency of the G-20 led by the Prime Minister, has established itself as a provider of world-class facilities. The Chief Minister highlighted the significant role of Gujarat in achieving an average growth rate exceeding 10 per cent over the last decade, showcasing 'Atmanirbharta' in both cities and villages.
Aligning with the Prime Minister's vision for a Swachh Bharat, Chief Minister Patel announced the initiation of the 'Nirmal Gujarat 2.0' campaign. The campaign aims to instil a habit of cleanliness among the people, complementing the Prime Minister's commitment to cleanliness, welfare, and growth in cities and metropolises.
Deputy Chief Whip Jagdish Makwana, MLAs, Mayor of Gandhinagar Hitesh Makwana, and several dignitaries from various municipalities were present during the event. The Chief Minister expressed optimism that these substantial allocations and initiatives would contribute to the comprehensive development of towns and cities within the state.
