Uttar Pradesh Government promises employment to 5 lakh stranded workers


In a bid to provide employment to the stranded migrant workers in the State of Uttar Pradesh, the State Government decided to constitute a committee to provide employment to as many as 5 lakh stranded workers who are stuck in the state from the past 45 days due to the lockdown implemented to prevent the COVID-19 outbreak.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Awanish K Awasthi recently stated that in a meeting with, the Chief Minister of  UP, ordered to set up a committee aimed at providing employment to 5 lakh workers who have come to the state in the last 45 days from different parts of the country. The move would be a relief for the daily waged workers who have been stranded from their families in different states without and work due to lockdown and no money.

The State recently had also announced Rs 1,000 each as an aid to destitute people, including those who were left out in both urban and rural areas amidst the lockdown.
