Defense Minister Rajnath Singh spearheaded the unveiling of a groundbreaking integrated project aimed at revolutionising waste management practices in Lucknow. The initiative, a collaborative effort between Lucknow Swachhata Abhiyan (LSA) and Lucknow Municipal Corporation, signifies a stride towards enhancing sustainability and cleanliness within the city.
The partnership between LSA, a subsidiary of Re Sustainability, and the municipal corporation highlights a commitment to implementing state-of-the-art waste management solutions. These initiatives are poised to address the growing challenges of waste management while fostering environmental sustainability.
The comprehensive agreement encompasses various waste management services, including efficient door-to-door collection utilising smart Electric Vehicles (EVs), the establishment and operation of Material Recovery Facilities (MRF), Transfer Stations, and meticulous handling of both wet and dry waste. The entire operation will be closely monitored round-the-clock through a cutting-edge Command and Control Center.
Furthermore, LSA is set to execute a systematic cleaning regimen for drainage management, ensuring regular upkeep of drains to enhance city cleanliness. The company also aims to engage in extensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaigns to raise public awareness regarding efficient waste management practices.
Masood Mallick, CEO of Re Sustainability, emphasised the collaborative effort's alignment with the government's vision of achieving a cleaner and greener environment. He underscored the project's focus on innovation, inclusivity, and leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive enhanced efficiency.
Speaking at the launch event, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed optimism about the project's potential to strengthen Lucknow's waste management infrastructure while aligning with the larger goal of environmental sustainability.
Indrajith Singh, IAS, the Commissioner of Lucknow Municipal Corporation, lauded the partnership, noting its significance in elevating the city's cleanliness and sustainability standards.
Similarly, Sushma Kharakwal, Mayor of Lucknow, echoed the sentiments, expressing enthusiasm for the promising prospects the collaboration holds for the city's future.
