The beneficiaries were distributed the aids and assistive devices at a camp organised by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation Limited (ALIMCO), under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot, who chaired the event in presence of Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Harsh Vardhan, said "The central government has brought transparency to the ADIP Scheme and the massive response and its success has added to the popularity of the initiative."

The minister also recalled a recent interaction between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and cochlear implantee children, under ADIP scheme, during the PM's popular Radio show 'Mann Ki Baat', which struck an emotional chord with the audience.

He said the government's "Make in India" objective is also being achieved through ALIMCO's active collaboration with German manufacturer "Ottobock" and the UK-based manufacturer "Motivation".

Lauding the Department for organising the camp at Ashok Vihar, Vardhan asked them to hold second such camp in his Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency.
