Punjab Government transfers 6 top IAS, Anurag Verma to take over as new Home Secretary

With the assembly elections due early next year in Punjab and amidst other political disruptions, the state government announced a minor bureaucratic reshuffle in the state in a bid to strengthen its administrative control.

The state government announced senior 1993-batch, IAS officer Anurag Verma as new principal secretary Home Affairs and justice with the additional charge of principal secretary (elections).

According to the order issued by the Punjab government late Monday, 1990-batch IAS officer Anurag Agarwal, who earlier held the additional charge of the home department, has been given independent charge of power, new and renewable energy sources, and will also serve as chairman-cum-managing director of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited.

On the other hand, Ramesh Kumar Ganta has been appointed as the Principal Secretary Technical Education and Industrial Training , relieving Verma of his additional charges, while Vivek Pratap Singh is presently appointed as Principal Secretary, Personnel , Vigilance, General Administration and Co-ordination in addition to Principal Secretary Parliamentary Affairs.

In another important move, Kamal Kishore Yadav have been reinstated in his earlier designation as Commissioner cum Director, Information and Public Relations.
