The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) - the creators of the LEED green building rating system – have announced that Greenbuild, their flagship green building conference and expo, will be held in Mumbai this year between November 2 to November 4 this year.
The 2016 marquee Greenbuild conference, held annually in the United States since 2002 and hosted more than 18,000 attendees and 531 exhibiting companies participating in the conference.
However in recent years, the conference has expanded internationally. In addition to the 2017 India Greenbuild, the conference will also take place in Boston, China and Brazil this year.
The Conference which will be organized in association with ABEC will bring together Indian and global industry leaders, experts and frontline professionals dedicated to sustainable building, making Greenbuild the ideal space to learn about groundbreaking green building products, services and technologies in the region.
“Greenbuild is the place where the passion of the green building movement comes alive,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, president & CEO, U.S. Green Building Council and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI)
“India is the third largest market for LEED outside the U.S., and USGBC has committed to bringing its resources to advance more rapid adoption of green building practices in the country. In fact, green building is projected to grow 20 percent in India by 2018, which makes my mother country the perfect location to hold the Greenbuild conference.”
Emerging economies like China, India and Brazil are engines of green growth and development varies from two to six-fold over current green building levels.
Increased consumer demand has also pushed the world’s green building market to a trillion-dollar industry, a surge that has led to a corresponding increase in the scope and size of the green building materials market, which is expected to reach $234 billion by 2019.
Green building is about reducing energy waste and water use; it’s about creating jobs and sparking economic growth; it’s also about protecting the health of our children for the future.
