Gadkari Allocates Rs. 1532.97 Cr For Gujarat Highway Upgrades

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, took to social media to announce significant approvals for infrastructure development projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time on key stretches of National Highways in Gujarat.

In his posts, Gadkari revealed that the approval has been granted for the widening of the 12.4 km long Dhrol to Amaran section of National Highway-151-A in Morbi district of Gujarat to a 4-lane road at a cost of Rs 625.58 crore. 

Emphasising the importance of this project, he highlighted that it serves as a crucial link in the Amritsar-Jamnagar corridor, completing connectivity between four refineries in three states and multiple economic and social nodes in the project's impact area. 

Once completed, this stretch will seamlessly connect the industrial city of Jamnagar with the eastern and northern parts of Gujarat, enhancing connectivity to the Jamnagar-Rajkot section of National Highway-151A/State Highway 25. 

Minister Gadkari projected a reduction in travel time by approximately one hour, leading to decreased vehicle operating costs and safer traffic flow. Additionally, improved connectivity is expected to stimulate economic growth, fostering the development of industries and agro parks and creating new employment opportunities.

In another significant development, Minister Gadkari announced approval for the construction of additional structures, including pipelines, along a 15 km stretch of the Vadodara-Surat section on National Highway-48 in Vadodara, Bharuch, and Surat districts of Gujarat. 

The project, estimated at Rs 907.39 crore, aims to enhance the efficiency and safety of the Vadodara-Surat corridor, which is part of the Golden Quadrilateral, a critical national highway network connecting major cities across India. 

The initiative involves replacing existing narrow bridges with new 3/4-lane bridges on both sides to alleviate bottlenecks and traffic congestion. Moreover, grade separator structures are proposed at identified accident-prone spots to streamline traffic flow and improve road safety. Minister Gadkari emphasised that these improvements will not only save travel time and fuel costs but also contribute to significant savings in productivity and enhanced road safety.

These infrastructure projects underscore the government's commitment to bolstering transportation networks and facilitating economic development in Gujarat and across the nation.
