HYDERABAD, Mar 7: The first phase of the master plan for the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, to be developed near
Vijayawada, would be ready by June this year, Governor E S L Narasimhan said here today.
"I am sure the new capital city will be an ideal role model in the entire country. The first phase of the master plan of the new capital will be ready by June 2015," the Governor said in his customary address to the joint sitting of AP legislature on the first day of Budget session.
"The most welcome and exhilarating feature of the biggest of its kind land pooling in the country, and perhaps in the world, is that nearly 33,000 acres of land has been voluntarily given by enthusiastic farmland owners, who have become willing partners in the development of the capital," he said.
The master plan for the capital is being prepared by the Singapore government agencies as a goodwill gesture. The plans include educational institutions, sports complexes, industries and entertainment centres in the capital region.
The US government has signed an MoU with the state for developing a smart city in Visakhapatnam, under which it will provide funds and technical inputs for feasibility studies, study tours and workshops.
Noting that Andhra Pradesh is one of the three states in the country selected for implementation of 'power for all' programme, the Governor said the state government is committed to supply 24x7 quality power to all domestic, commercial and industrial consumers and seven hours of free power to farmers.
Saying that the government is putting a major thrust on renewable energy, particularly solar and wind, he said a significant quantum of wind and solar energy is proposed to be added in 2015-16.
