Uttarakhand Government rejigs over 60 IAS, IPS officers to overhaul state administration

The state government of Uttarakhand announced a major rejig in its bureaucracy, just months ahead of the crucial state assembly elections. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced transfer of 60 IAS and IPS officers within the state ensuring another move to consolidate his grip in the state’s administration, ahead of the assembly election in the state, slated happen early next year.
 
 As per a government order released late at night, as many as 20 IPS officers are named SSPs of several districts in the state, in the bureaucratic reshuffle announced.Among the top IPS officers, the new Dehradun SSP, Janmaijai Khanduri is to assume the new charge and announced to keep a check on law and order situation in the state capital. “My priority would be to ensure that justice is provided to each victim,” Khanduri said after taking charge as SSP Dehradun. Janmaijai, a  2007-batch IPS officer has also served as SSP Kumbh Mela in the past and has earlier also served as the SSP of Haridwar and Nainital districts.
 
 Meanwhile, the incumbent Doon SSP Yogendra Singh Rawat is named as the new SSP in Haridwar.
 
 Top level administrative reshuffle also announced by the state government naming additional charge for IAS officer and Tehri district magistrate Eva Ashish Srivastava who is now going to hold additional charge of Deputy Chairman, Tehri District Level Development Authority.
 
 Additional Secretary Iqbal Ahmed has also been given the charge of Additional Secretary Energy. On the other hand, Additional Secretary Home VK Krishna Kumar has been released from the Police Headquarters besides IAS officer Anand Swarup has also been relieved from his charges as Additional Secretary Registrar Cooperatives. The order issued named IAS officer Alok Kumar Pandey at the apex of the department. However, Pandey will no more hold the responsibility of vice-chairman, district level authority Tehri and Secretary, Uttarakhand Child Development Protection Commission.
 
 Senior IAS officer and Additional Secretary Umesh Narayan have been given the responsibility of director employees insurance scheme, amongst other top bureaucratic reshuffles.
