The Uttar Pradesh government, led by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, is actively pursuing its mission to enhance the state's basic infrastructure. To achieve this goal, the government has drafted a comprehensive action plan and has initiated large-scale transformation of 277 roads spanning over 63 districts in the state.
The state government has allocated a budget of Rs 319.73 crore, with an average expenditure of approximately Rs 40 lakh for each of the 277 roads. Notably, the Public Works Department has already begun implementing repair and renovation works in accordance with the directives of the chief minister.
As an initial step, the government has disbursed Rs 63.94 crore following the necessary administrative and financial approvals. This funding will accelerate the progress of repair on these selected roads.
It may be noted here that many of these roads in the 63 districts have long suffered from neglect in terms of maintenance. The repair and renovation program encompasses not only these roads but also includes link roads connecting rural and main roads within the districts.
Furthermore, it encompasses the restoration of national highways, link roads, border roads, and highways.
Additionally, the process of rehabilitating national roads, link roads, border roads, and highways is already underway as they are integrated into the plan for special repair works.
The responsibility for executing these repair projects across the 63 districts falls under the purview of the Public Works Department.
The Chief Engineer (Development) and the Head of the Public Works Department are committed to ensuring that all work is carried out with exceptional quality and in strict compliance with the regulations established by the Uttar Pradesh Government.
This extensive construction effort spans numerous significant cities, including Agra, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Saharanpur, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Jhansi, and Gorakhpur, as well as Bahraich, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Basti, Gonda, Sant Kabir Nagar, Mahoba, Pilibhit, Kushinagar, and Amroha. The process of completion has also commenced in the remaining districts.
