Two New Flyovers Unveiled To Improve Transit At Delhi Airport

The Delhi International Airport (DIAL) unveiled two new approach flyovers that are expected to provide passengers at Delhi Airport with a smooth and effective transit experience.

Travellers to and from the airport will experience less traffic thanks to the two flyovers: the Parallel Access Road flyover and the Aerocity flyover.

Located at the intersection of the Aerocity metro station, the four-lane, one-way Aerocity Flyover significantly reduces travel times between the airport's Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 3 (T3). 

This flyover ends just short of the Eastern Cross Taxiway and runs from the front of the Andaz Hotel in Aerocity (on the west side) to the Central Spine Road.

The Parallel Access Road (PAR) Flyover, on the other hand, is a portion of a special corridor with two lanes in each direction that are only used for cargo terminal traffic.

According to officials, this corridor, which has a flyway next to NH8, begins close to the Hanuman temple and ends close to the Andaz Hotel. By separating heavy traffic from passenger traffic, the PAR Flyover aims to reduce congestion on the approach road.

Together, the 800 metres of the Aerocity Flyover and the 600 metres of the PAR Flyover would expedite traffic between the three terminals and drastically lessen the amount of heavy vehicles that travel on the airport approach road, according to officials.
