Nitin Gadkari Unveils Plans For Electric Bus Travel On Delhi-Mumbai Express National Highway

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has unveiled plans to introduce electric buses on the Delhi-Mumbai Express National Highway. Gadkari's announcement aims to significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Jaipur to a mere two hours, with fares projected to be 30 per cent lower than those of diesel buses.

During the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony for 17 road projects in Udaipur, representing an investment of over Rs 2,500 crore to propel Mewar's development, Gadkari outlined the vision for India's roadways.

Amidst these developments, Gadkari expressed confidence in the ongoing construction of a 67-kilometre four-lane expressway from Bandikui to Jaipur, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,370 crore. He assured completion by November 2024, further enhancing connectivity between Delhi and Jaipur.

Drawing attention to the Delhi-Mumbai express highway, Gadkari highlighted its unique features, including the distinction of being the first in Asia and the second globally to incorporate an animal overpass, underscoring the government's commitment to wildlife conservation.

Looking ahead, Gadkari pledged to elevate Rajasthan's national highways to international standards, with a target set to match those of America by the end of 2024. He provided insights into the extensive infrastructural endeavours underway, including the construction of express highways totaling Rs 60,000 crores, notably the ongoing Delhi Mumbai Express Highway spanning 1,382 km, with a budget of Rs 1 lakh crore.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma lauded Udaipur's significance in tourism, hailing it as the "Kashmir of Rajasthan." He commended the historic strides achieved in Rajasthan since 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, anticipating a substantial boost in the tourism sector.

Sharma provided updates on the state government's progress, nearing completion of 60 days, reaffirming their commitment to swiftly execute pending projects. He spotlighted the Maharana Pratap Corridor announced in the state budget, vowing prompt implementation by the double-engine government.

Assuring the public of the government's dedication, Sharma emphasised the collaborative efforts between the Centre and the Rajasthan government to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of the citizens, signalling a concerted push towards comprehensive development and progress in the state.
