The trial run for Phase 1 of Mumbai Metro Line 3, running from Aarey to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), is scheduled to commence in November.
According to a senior official from the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), the authority successfully did the first long distance trial from MIDC to Vidyanagari Metro station and back to SEEPZ, covering 17 kilometres.
Before this, the MMRC conducted trial runs on a three-kilometre segment, spanning from Sariput Nagar in Aarey to Marol, starting in August 2022.
According to MMRC officials, a portion of the track laying work remains unfinished. Following this, the overhead electrical lines will be energised in both directions to facilitate trial runs for the entire Phase 1, connecting Aarey to BKC stations.
As per reports, the Phase 1 operations that were scheduled to begin by December this year, will now be delayed till next year, with trial run yet to begin.
Consequently, the commencement of Phase 2, extending from BKC to Colaba, which was initially planned to start six months after the launch of Phase 1, is expected to be postponed.
