In a significant development, the land survey work for the upcoming Shaktipeeth Expressway, linking Nagpur and Goa, has been successfully completed. Kailash Jadhav, the Joint Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), announced on Wednesday the focus now shifts towards land acquisition and the compensatory process, marking significant progress in the execution of this transformative infrastructure project.
The forthcoming Nagpur-Goa expressway is poised to revolutionise connectivity between these two destinations, substantially reducing travel time from the current 21 hours to a mere 11 hours.
Spanning 800 kilometres, the expressway will traverse through 12 districts, showcasing the state's commitment to bolstering regional connectivity and facilitating seamless travel experiences for commuters.
A main feature of the expressway is its strategic alignment, encompassing several prominent Hindu pilgrimage sites along the route. Among these sacred landmarks are two revered jyotirlingas – Parli Vaijnath and Aundh Naganath (Nageshwar) – situated in the Hingoli district. Additionally, the expressway will provide direct access to Mahur Renu Devi temple, Tuljabhavani temple in Tuljapur, Vitthal Rakhumai temple in Pandharpur, and the Mahalaxmi temple in Kolhapur, underscoring its significance in facilitating religious tourism.
Furthermore, the expressway will extend its reach to Goa's Patradevi temple, enhancing connectivity and accessibility to this popular religious site. With the inclusion of these revered destinations, the project not only serves as a catalyst for enhanced transportation infrastructure but also as a facilitator for religious tourism development across Maharashtra and Goa.
In addition to its religious significance, the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway is poised to stimulate economic growth and tourism in the region. With an estimated project cost of Rs 86,000 crores, the initiative represents a substantial investment in developing state-of-the-art infrastructure and fostering sustainable development.
As the project progresses, stakeholders eagerly anticipate the manifold benefits it is poised to deliver, ranging from enhanced connectivity and reduced travel time to bolstered tourism and economic prosperity.
With the MSRDC spearheading the endeavour, the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway stands as a testament to Maharashtra's commitment to fostering inclusive growth and advancing the state's infrastructure landscape into the future.
