Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Opens ShilPhata Flyover In Kalyan

In a move aimed at alleviating traffic woes in the bustling Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated a segment of the ShilPhata flyover in Kalyan on National Highway (NH)-48 on Tuesday. The newly operational section of the flyover, constructed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), marks a significant milestone in the region's infrastructure development.

The ShilPhata flyover, spanning 749 metres in length, is envisioned to mitigate congestion along the route connecting Kalyan to Navi Mumbai. With an estimated cost of Rs 45.68 crore, the project boasts a dual carriageway design, facilitating smoother traffic flow with three lanes designated for both Panvel and Thane-bound vehicles. While the Panvel-bound section is now open to commuters, the Thane-bound counterpart is slated for completion within the next two months.

This initiative, spearheaded by the MMRDA, is strategically targeted at addressing traffic bottlenecks at pivotal junctions like Kalyan Phata. The area witnesses a constant influx of vehicles, contributing to daily congestion and commuting challenges for residents and travellers alike.

Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Commissioner of the MMRDA, underscored the project's significance in curbing fuel consumption and streamlining traffic movement. He reiterated the MMRDA's commitment to fostering sustainable urban development, aligning the flyover's construction with the overarching vision for a more efficient and eco-friendly transportation network in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The inauguration of the ShilPhata flyover segment reflects a concerted effort by state authorities to enhance connectivity and ease travel burdens for citizens. As the project unfolds, it is expected to significantly improve commuting experiences and enhance the overall quality of life for residents in the region.
