In a significant move aimed at bolstering infrastructure development in the state, the state cabinet meeting chaired by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday approved projects worth Rs 10,373 crore for various irrigation projects across Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, the Cabinet has greenlit the operation of 552 e-buses in six smart cities, including Indore and Bhopal, under the Prime Minister's Electric Bus Scheme.
Addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla informed that the government aims to improve city bus services and combat pollution by enhancing public transportation facilities in six cities, including Indore and Bhopal. Approval has been granted for the operation of 552 electric buses under the Prime Minister's Electric Bus Scheme.
These buses will be operational not only in Bhopal and Indore but also in Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, and Sagar cities.
The operation of e-buses in the six smart cities of Madhya Pradesh will be carried out on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis. The State Level Steering Committee (SLSC) has been authorized to oversee all aspects related to approvals, implementation, and monitoring of the scheme. Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) to ensure the smooth implementation of the e-bus service.
Moreover, the Cabinet approved the expansion of the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for a period of three years, extending it till 2024-25 and increasing the budget allocation from Rs 800 crore to Rs 1100 crore.
Additionally, amendments to the Madhya Pradesh Administration (Allocation) Rules have been approved to include activities related to startups and incubation under the jurisdiction of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Department.
The Cabinet also sanctioned the formation of the Madhya Pradesh Administrative Unit Reorganisation Commission to facilitate the restructuring of administrative units. The commission has been granted approval for its terms of reference, structure, remuneration/benefits, administrative structure, and financial proposals.
The decisions taken by the Cabinet reflect the government's commitment to promoting infrastructure development and enhancing public services across Madhya Pradesh, thereby contributing to the state's overall progress and prosperity.
