Madhusudhan Prasad has taken over as the new Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development, replacing Shankar Aggarwal, who has moved as Secretary to the Ministry of Labour and Employment. An IAS Officer of the 1981 batch, Prasad belongs to the Haryana cadre and was Special Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce before moving into his new role.
Prasad has held the posts of Collector of Sirsa district and Principal Secretary (Power) in the Government of Haryana, among others, before moving to the Government of India. He was Director and Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs and Additional Secretary and Special Secretary (Commerce).
He has also served as Economic Counsellor in the Indian Embassy in Washington, USA.
