While the Indian Railways has restarted passenger train operations since the unlock 1.0 announced, the Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has installed an Automated ticket-checking and managing access (ATMA) facility at Nagpur railway station to ensure contactless entry for train travellers in order to avoid infection of Covid-19.
The facility is equipped with technology that can scan the body temperature of travellers by people sitting on the booth who can also check whether travelers wear a mask or not. On getting a green signal about the temperature that is within limits, the traveller shows the travel ticket that too is scanned without touch. The HD camera installed at the booth will check the ID proof and ticket of the person.
The facility has been installed to help railway staffers as well as Railway protection force to check the rail travellers credentials of valid passengers without human interference from a safe distance.
The direction to the traveler is indicated by the LED display exit of the person from the booth. The LED displays are the same which have been used for commercial ads and other announcements for trains. The LED screen is also provided for Indian Railway Protection Force (IRPF) jawans to monitor the traveller movement.
These are now being connected with the ATMA facility and work round the clock at the Nagpur station. The said facility at the Nagpur Railway Station is taken care of by Commercial Branch and IRPF.
