No Indian state has so far managed to bring down its air pollution levels either to or below the WHO’s limits. On average, people in India have their life expectancy cut short by 5.3 years because of air pollution. In two districts of Delhi, life expectancy is reduced by 12 years, which is the greatest reduction of life expectancy due to air pollution anywhere in the world.
