Sterlite Tech Wins CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2017 for excellence in CSR

Global Technology Company Sterlite Technologies recently won CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2017 for excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). India’s only third-party honor, the award process measures performance and provides detailed feedback for opportunities to excel. This honor recognizes Sterlite Tech’s transformative efforts to create shared value in e-education, healthcare, women empowerment and environment management.

The award was presented to Manish Sinha, CMO, Sterlite Tech by CK Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Government of India in New Delhi. Citing the honor, Dr. Anand Agarwal, CEO, Sterlite Tech, said, “Along with our global leadership in designing, building and managing web-scale digital networks, we have been actively contributing towards improving the lives of the communities we function in, thus creating shared value for all. In alignment with our vision to transform everyday living by delivering smarter networks, this recognition solidifies our commitment to the holistic growth of the society and the creation of a sustainable environment in the regions we operate."

Sterlite Tech's CSR initiatives are based on UN's Sustainable Development Goals, and have resulted in the four pillars of the community, people, environment, and conduct. These are also the drivers for the company's key projects in e-education, healthcare, women empowerment and environment management.

In another initiative, Sterlite Tech proactively launched Project Green Belt - planting 5,000 trees on both sides of the 2-km road to MIDC, Waluj, mitigating the effects of industrialization in Aurangabad. Sterlite Tech also took up Gram Samruddhi initiative. The company adopted Village Pophla and transformed it into a model village through various community development measures.
